Metal halide perovskite nanocrystals for plant-growth lighting applications: strategies for boosting stability

Abstract

Metal halide perovskite nanocrystals (MHP NCs) have emerged as highly promising light sources due to their exceptional luminescence performance, tunable emission properties, and straightforward synthesis methods. These cost-effective sources exhibit immense potential for utilization in plant lighting. However, persistent stability concerns regarding MHP NCs and their associated light-emitting devices present significant obstacles to their practical deployment. This review extensively examines the foundational aspects of MHP NCs for lighting applications and elucidates the factors that influence their stability. Additionally, we consolidate the noteworthy endeavors aimed at bolstering the stability of MHP NCs while delineating the specific prerequisites of plant lighting. Furthermore, we highlight the advantages inherent in employing MHP NC-based light-emitting devices for plant lighting purposes. We envisage that this review will not only stimulate the advancement of stable MHP NCs but also advocate for their widespread integration into plant lighting applications.
