Tetra-8-quinolinolatotitanium, di-8-quinolinolatodisalicylaldehydatotitanium, and tetrasalicylaldehydatotitanium

Abstract

Tetra-8-quinolinolatotitanium (Ti ox4) has been prepared by the reaction of dichlorodi-8-quinolinolatotitanium with 8-quinolinol in the presence of triethylamine. Tetrasalicylaldehydatotitanium (Ti sal4) and di-8-quinolinolatodisalicylaldehydatotitanium (Ti ox2 sal2) have been prepared by analogous reactions. Conductance and spectroscopic evidence indicates that titanium is eight-co-ordinate in Ti ox4 but probably six-co-ordinate in Ti sal4 and Ti ox2 sal2. Attempts to prepare tetra-acetylacetonatotitanium by the analogous reaction gave Ti acac3.
