A new method is described for the preparation of bis-(4-aminopent-3-en-2-onato)nickel(II) by the preparation of the ligand in situ. The visible, i.r., and n.m.r. spectra are in agreement with those previously published, except that a new band is noted in the visible spectrum. The assignment of the spectra is discussed briefly.
