The reaction of diborane with organomercury compounds; a synthetic route to phenols and organoboranes

Abstract

Organomercury halides of type ArHgX react with diborane in tetrahydrofuran to give intermediate organoboranes which can be oxidised with alkaline hydrogen peroxide to give high yields of phenols.
