Photoelectron spectra of [MMe(η-C5H5)(CO)3](M = MO and W), [MMe(η-C5H5)(CO)2](M = Fe and Ru), and [Fe(CH2CN)(η-C5H5)(CO)2] have been measured. The ionization energies for the metal–carbon σ-bonding electrons are identified and compared with those of other transition-metal alkyl compounds.
