Unusual population of the axial–equatorial conformation in NN′-dichloropiperazine

Abstract

The population ration of the ee and ae+ea conformations in NN′-dichloropiperazine at –45 °C is 3:1 (ΔG°= 0·5 kcal mol–1); this unusually low value possibly arises from a generalized anomeric effect.
