Reactions of methylenecyclopropane with some hydridoplatinum(II) complexes

Abstract

Methylenecyclopropane reacts with tram-[PtH(NO3) L2] to give complexes with the (1–3-η-methylallyl)platinum cations [Pt(C4H7)L2]+(L = PEt3, PMe2Ph, or PPh3). When L = PEt3 or PMe2Ph the complexes contain the 1-methylallyl ligand only, but when L = PPh3 the 2-methylallyl isomer is also formed. On the basis of deuterium-labelling studies. mechanisms for these reactions are proposed.
