X-Ray crystal structure of tetra-antimony(V) tridecachloride heptafluoride, (Sb2Cl6.5F3.5)2
Abstract
The title compound has been prepared and characterised by single-crystal X-ray crystallography. Crystals are monoclinic with a= 12.921(4), b= 7.423(4), c= 12.921(4)Å, β= 90.10(3), and Z= 4. The structure has been refined in the non-standard space group I2 to give a final agreement index R′ of 0.116 for 1 129 independent reflections. The structure consists of cis-fluorine-bridged tetramers of SbCl3F2 with two antimony atoms having a chlorine atom partially substituted by fluorine. The problem of disorder in the SbClxF5 –x species is discussed.
