Three oligopeptide containing L-methionine, Nps-(L-Met-L-Met-L-Leu)6-OEt, Nps-(L-Met-L-Met–L-Ala)6–OEt, and Nps-(L-Met-L-Leu-L-Ala)6-OEt, which adopt the α-helical conformation, show a band at 420 cm–1in the far-i.r. region, which can be assigned to the α-helical L-methionne residue.
