Tin-119 nuclear magnetic resonance studies of some pseudohalogeno-derivatives of [SnX6]2–(X = Cl or Br)

Abstract

Several thiocyanato- and cyano-derivatives [SnX6 –nYn]2–(X = Cl or Br, Y = NCS or CN) or the hexahalogenostannate(IV) ions [SnX6]2– have been identified in solution by 119Sn n.m.r. spectroscopy. Some isomeric configurations have been deduced by the method of pairwise interactions. The ligands in [Sn(NCS)6]2– were deduced to be N–bonded on the basis of i.r. spectroscopy.
