Supramolecular approach to metal–support interactions: formation and decarbonylation of allyl alcohol by an oxide-supported (σ-allyl)rhodium(III) complex
Abstract
Silica- or alumina-supported bis(allyl)rhodium(III) reacts with PMe3, producing an unstable mono(allyl)rhodium(III) fragment which undergoes C–O bond formation to give allyl alcohol which is then decarbonylated, as demonstrated by IR spectroscopy, isotopic labelling, elemental analysis and 31P solid- state MAS NMR.
