Dalton communications. Reaction of a side-on co-ordinated carbene ligand with the Wittig reagent

Abstract

The 1-methylene-4-phenylcyclohexadiene triosmium complex [Os3(CO)93222-H2C[double bond, length half m-dash]C6H5Ph)] has been prepared from the reaction of [Os3(CO)93212-C6H5Ph)], which contains a side-on co-ordinated carbene group, with the Wittig reagent H2C[double bond, length half m-dash]PPh3; the crystal and molecular structure of the product has been determined by an X-ray diffraction study.
