Polyhedral azadirhodaborane chemistry. Reaction of [{RhCl25-C5Me5) }2] with [EtH2NB8H11NHEt] to give contiguous ten-vertex [1-Et-6,7-(η5-C5Me5)2- closo-6,7,1-Rh2NB7H7 ]

Abstract

The novel monoazadirhodaborane [1-Et-6,7-(η 5 -C 5 Me 5 ) 2 - closo-1,6,7-NRh 2 B 7 H 7 ], of ten-vertex stretched closo-type geometry, has been isolated in 6% yield from the reaction in tetrahydrofuran between [{RhCl 2 5 -C 5 Me 5 ) } 2 ], NaH and [EtH 2 NB 8 H 11 NHEt]; the latter azaborane compound therefore exhibits good augury as a potentially interesting and useful azametallaborane synthon.
