Using a large calixarene as a polyalkoxide ligand: tert-butylcalix[12]arene and its complex with the uranyl cation
Abstract
tert-Butylcalix[12]arene (H12L) encompasses two uranyl bimetallic units inside its cavity to form [HNEt3]2[{(UO2)2(NO3 )(py)}2(H4L)] 1, the first metal complex of a large calixarene; the comparison of the crystal structures of 1 and H12L shows a relatively limited influence of metal coordination on the conformation of the macrocycle.
