Abstract

Metal–ligand co-ordination frameworks of 4,4′-bipyridine-N,N′-dioxide (L) have been prepared; {[Sm(L)2- (NO3)3]·0.5H2O}∞ 1, {[Er2(L)3(NO3)6]·2 CH3OH}∞ 2; 1 shows rare two-fold interpenetrating three-dimensional CdSO4-like nets, and 2 shows an unprecedented two-dimensional 4.82 network.
