Facile fabrication of hierarchically nanoporous SBA-1 nanoparticles

Abstract

Mesoporous silica nanoparticles are drawing increasing attention in biomedical applications. In this work, hierarchically nanoporous SBA-1 single-crystal-like nanoparticles, with a size of 50–300 nm, were synthesized using a cationic surfactant and anionic polymer poly(acrylic acid) (PAA) mesomorphous complexes as a template. The obtained mesoporous silica nanoparticles showed a well ordered cubic Pm[3 with combining macron]n mesostructure, large pore volume and high BET surface area. The materials possess biomodal nanopores corresponding to well-ordered mesopores and secondary interstitial nanopores.
