Improving the photoelectrochemical activity of La5Ti2CuS5O7 for hydrogen evolution by particle transfer and doping

Abstract

La5Ti2CuS5O7 doped with Sc in Ti sites generates photocathodic current at +0.88 V vs. RHE in photoelectrochemical water splitting and shows eight times higher photocurrent than undoped La5Ti2CuS5O7. The particle transfer method enabling good electrical contact and p-type doping increasing the majority carrier concentration contributes to the enhanced photoelectrochemical activity.
