Mastering a biphasic single-reactor process for direct conversion of glycerol into liquid hydrocarbon fuels

Abstract

The aqueous-phase reforming (APR) and Fischer–Tropsch (FT) synthesis have been combined in a single biphasic reactor. The APR of glycerol over Pt/Al2O3 in the aqueous phase in the presence of an acid leads to partial formation of syngas, which transforms in the organic phase over hydrophobic Ru/C into long chain hydrocarbons.
