Catalytic wet peroxide oxidation of phenol by [C16H33(CH3)3N]4H2SiV2W10O40 catalyst†
Abstract
A micellar tungstovanadosilicic polyoxometalate (POM) catalyst [C16H33(CH3)3N]4H2SiV2W10O40 (abbreviated as [C16]4H2SiV2W10) was prepared and used for catalytic wet peroxide oxidation (CWPO) of phenol. Energy Dispersive X-ray Spectroscopy (EDX), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), and 29Si MAS NMR were used to characterize the resulting sample. The best catalytic activity was obtained by [C16]4H2SiV2W10 with 91.6% degradation effect, 93.2% COD removal and 85.5% TOC reduction with H2O2 under room condition towards complete degradation of product CO2 within 90 min. The leaching test showed that the POM micellar catalysts had an excellent stability and can be used as heterogeneous catalysts for about six times.
