Fabrication of novel multi-morphological tetrazole-based infinite coordination polymers; transformation studies and their calcination to mineral zinc oxide nano- and microarchitectures†
Abstract
Nano and micro-size coordination polymer spheres, branched rod and coral shapes were controllably fabricated from a new tetrazolate ligand, (1,3-bis(tetrazol-5-ylmethyl)benzene (btb)). In addition, the potential application of the consequent polymeric carriers in encapsulation of multifunctional guests, comprising quantum dots (QDs), ferromagnetic nanoparticles of iron oxide (Fe3O4), and dyes (fluorescein isotiocyanate (FITC), and Rhodamine B) was demonstrated. Subsequently, these infinite coordination polymers (ICPs) were used as precursor for preparation of crystalline zinc oxide mineral spheres, rods and coral shapes by calcination a route.
