Natural betanin dye extracted from bougainvillea flowers for the naked-eye detection of copper ions in water samples
Abstract
We introduce the concept of water-soluble natural dye (betanin) as a novel colorimetric sensor for the naked eye detection of copper ions in water samples. Such simple, green, fast, selective and low-cost colorimetric determination of Cu2+ ions would definitely enhance the environmental and economic benefits of this alternative form of synthetic chelating agent.
