Dicarboxamide polymorph derivatives for trace-level electrochemical sensing of Cu(ii) supported with crystal structure and theoretical studies†
Abstract
A polymorph of fully substituted pyridine dicarboxamide L3 has been utilized to explore its cation-sensing ability using voltammetric experiments. It has been observed that among the twelve metals employed for sensing comprising a mixture of transition and alkaline earth metals, a selective response to Cu(II) ions is obtained. The sensing phenomenon is further assisted by theoretical studies, which explain the high selectivity of L3 for Cu(II) ions relative to other metal ions considered for experimental study.
