Catalytic growth of highly crystalline polyaniline by copper under ambient conditions

Abstract

An ambient condition copper wire catalyzed method for the synthesis of crystalline polyaniline has been developed here. The products are well crystallized without amorphous trails in the XRD pattern. The growth mechanism has been analyzed indicating that copper is oxidized in acetic acid by oxygen and then reduced in the polymerization process. The proposed catalytic method provides a facile route for the synthesis of highly crystallized polyaniline.
