Electrostatic trapping of polysulfides enabled by imidazolium-based ionic polymers for high-energy-density lithium–sulfur batteries

Abstract

An electrostatic attraction strategy based on main-chain imidazolium-based ionic polymer (ImIP) has been presented to suppress the shuttle effect of polysulfides in lithium–sulfur batteries. The resultant electrodes show much higher reversible capacity, cycling stability, rate performance and structural integrity during cycling than their counterpart without ImIP.
