Iodine decorated-UiO-67 MOF as a fluorescent sensor for the detection of halogenated aromatic hydrocarbons†
Abstract
An iodine-decorated UiO-67 MOF, UiO-67(I)2 is constructed via the incorporation of iodine groups into the BPDC linker. In comparison to UiO-67, the afforded MOF containing a 2,2′-diiodo, 1,1′-biphenyl, 4,4′-biphenyldicarboxylic acid (I2BPDC) ligand exhibited a strong fluorescence response towards halogenated aromatic hydrocarbons (HAHs). The result revealed that from chloro to iodo-group on the HAHs, the sensing performance of both un-/functionalized LMOFs improved. Furthermore, by increasing the number of halo-groups on the HAHs, the fluorescence response was improved and fully quenched the emission intensity.
