Facile synthesis of a linear porous organic polymer via Schiff-base chemistry for propyne/propylene separation

Abstract

Linear porous organic polymers (L-POPs) are a class of porous organic materials that are of great interest in various applications, such as separation and catalysis. However, the limited reaction types and requirement for specific monomers restrict the range of L-POPs possible. Herein, we introduce the facile synthesis of an L-POP via Schiff-base chemistry, and describe an L-POP material with good solubility in organic solvents. The L-POP also exhibited a certain degree selectivity in the separation of propyne/propylene (C3H4/C3H6; very close boiling points and similar kinetic diameters).
