MXene derivatives for energy storage applications
Abstract
As a new family of two-dimensional materials, MXenes have been extensively studied in various applications, especially in the field of energy storage. In this regard, MXenes as a precursor for producing various derivatives have also received widespread attention for energy storage applications. This article reviews the preparation strategies of various MXene derivatives, including oxidation, chlorination, nitridation, fluorination, and sulfurization, as well as their products for energy storage. At present, MXene derivatives are mainly prepared through the oxidation reaction, and interestingly the compositions of the oxidation products are defined based on the degree of oxidation. The relationship between the structure and electrochemical performance of the MXene derivatives is discussed. Finally, we briefly discuss the opportunities and challenges presently faced by the MXene derivatives.
