Nano-enabled theranostics for cancer
Abstract
This review focuses on the architecture and functions of theranostic nanoparticles. In the beginning, this review highlights the importance of diagnostic imaging with a brief introduction on the importance of MRI in the diagnosis of diseases. Following the diagnosis part, a brief description of the conventional cancer therapies including their toxic side effects is highlighted. Finally, the importance and characteristics of nanomaterials in overcoming the limitations of conventional cancer therapies and the advantages of combining diagnosis and therapeutic agents are presented along with the review of nanoparticles used for theranostic applications.
