Circularly polarized luminescence from oriented polymer films doped with a tetraphenylethylene-based conjugated oligomer†
Abstract
Circularly polarized luminescence (CPL) materials have aroused increasing interest due to their wide potential applications. However, achieving CPL-active materials with both a large dissymmetry factor (glum) and high quantum yield (ΦF) in the solid state remains a challenging task. Here, a series of oriented polymer films with efficient CPL have been fabricated through photopolymerization of cholesteric liquid-crystalline mixtures doped with a tetraphenylethylene-based conjugated oligomer. The resulting films emit intense yellow-orange CPL with absolute glum values up to 0.77 and ΦF up to 60.4%. This work provides a strategy for constructing CPL thin-film materials with large glum and high fluorescence efficiency.
