Correlated biphasic features of improved rate capability upon Ga doping in LiNi0.6Mn0.2Co0.2O2†
Abstract
Improving the rate capacity of lithium-ion batteries is a continuous challenge to meet the demand for electric vehicles. Herein, NCM622 with biphasic features via Ga doping is obtained and is employed as the cathode material. Benefiting from the advantages of phase separation, the rate capability is significantly enhanced and the obtained samples show excellent electrochemical performances, including high reversible capacity (220 mA h g−1 at 0.05C), good rate capability (55 mA h g−1 at 40C and 105 mA h g−1 at 15C), and stable cycling retention (92% after 100 cycles and 83% after 500 cycles). Electrochemical properties reveal that Ga-doped NCM622 with biphasic features is a promising cathode material for rechargeable lithium-ion batteries with a high charging speed.
