Abstract

The chlorine-rich complex (Me4N)3{[Bi2Cl9](Cl2)} (1) features dichlorine units incorporated into a chlorometalate matrix via halogen bonding. 1 exhibits relatively high thermal stability (release of Cl2 at >180 °C).
