Hydrothermal treatment: an effective method to improve the catalytic activity of the Pt/ZSM-5 catalyst for complete benzene oxidation

Abstract

In this work, hydrothermal treatment surprisingly enhanced the catalytic activity of the Pt/ZSM-5 catalyst in benzene oxidation. It was confirmed that hydrothermal treatment at 400 °C partially destroyed the bridging OH groups on the catalyst, which may weaken the anchoring ability to Pt particles. Thus, Pt particles grew into larger ones with high Pt0 content and turnover frequency (21.69 × 10−3S−1). Besides, the in situ DRIFTS demonstrated that benzene was more easily oxidized on hydrothermally treated Pt/ZSM-5.
