Sn regulates the electronic structure and metal particles of Pd to improve the hydrogenation performance of 4-nitrophenol†
Abstract
In this study, different proportions of Pd/Sn of PdSn/C, PdSn2/C and PdSn4/C catalysts were prepared by a simple mixed calcination method. The characterization methods, such as BET, XRD, TEM and XPS, were used to study a series of Pd–Sn alloy catalysts. The catalytic activity of Pd–Sn alloy catalysts was investigated by catalytic hydrogenation of 4-nitrophenol. The experimental results show that the PdSn4/C catalyst shows good catalytic activity (k = 0.38 × 10−2), which may be due to the synergistic effect between the Pd and Sn, making the bimetallic alloy more evenly dispersed. Pd has a greater positive charge, affecting the adsorption energy of the catalyst for reactants and products.
