Triple activation of persulfate by a polydopamine/zerovalent iron co-functionalized sponge for synergistic solar driven photocatalytic antibiotic degradation and interfacial evaporation

Abstract

A self-floating sponge functionalized with a photothermal polydopamine coating and catalytic zerovalent iron nanoparticles can activate persulfate through three independent yet synergistic pathways. The device is applied for dual functional antibiotic degradation and freshwater obtainment through solar driven interfacial evaporation.
