Gyroidal MOFs: anion-coordination effect enables inverse architecture and enhanced moisture stability†
Abstract
The rational construction of MOFs with fascinating architecture and satisfactory stability under humid conditions are very attractive but rather challenging to obtain. Herein, we proposed a facile and generalizable method to drastically boost the moisture or water resistance of MOFs by the anion coordination effect. Three gyroidal MOFs (GMOF-1, 2, 3) with the unique topology (nku, abbreviation of Nankai University) were successfully synthesized. Surprisingly, compared with GMOF-1, the coordination of NO3− in GMOF-3 reverses the direction of the helical channels, while GMOF-2 decorated with Br− coordination possesses the same helical direction. By means of the anion coordination effect, both GMOF-2 and GMOF-3 are endowed with enhanced water resistance.
