Copper-catalyzed silylation of propargyl carbonates: a general entry to allenylsilanes

Abstract

A general and practical route for the silylation of propargyl carbonates with silylboranes catalyzed by copper has been developed. A wide range of propargyl carbonates with different substitution patterns including primary and terminal propargyl carbonates turned out to be compatible with this catalytic system. As a result, diverse silylallenes such as tri- or tetra-substituted and 1,1- or 1,3-disubstituted silylallenes were synthesized with high efficiency and functional group compatibility.
