Hydrogen-intercalation-induced lattice expansion of mesoporous PtPd nanocrystals for enhanced hydrogen evolution†
Abstract
Herein, platinum–palladium hydrides with a mesoporous nanostructure (PtPdH MNCs) are synthesized via the hydrogenation of PtPd MNCs in N,N-dimethylformamide. Due to abundant catalytically active sites and hydrogen-intercalation-induced lattice expansion, PtPdH MNCs exhibit remarkable HER activity, delivering a low overpotential of −32 mV at a current density of −10 mA cm−2 in 1.0 M KOH, as well as a small Tafel slope of −48.31 mV dec−1.
