A novel ionic liquid immobilized on FSM-16: a novel recoverable nanocatalyst for the synthesis of biscoumarin derivatives

Abstract

In order to extend the use of supported ionic liquids as effective heterogeneous catalysts, in this research, a novel FSM-16 supported Brønsted acidic ionic liquid (FSM-16-IL-SO3H) was synthesized and characterized using various techniques such as FT-IR, TGA, SEM, EDX, XRD, and BET. The prepared catalyst was used as a new, environmentally friendly, and recyclable catalyst for the synthesis of biscoumarin derivatives through the reaction of aromatic aldehydes and 4-hydroxycoumarin with short reaction times and high yields.
