Surfactant-controlled switchable oxygenation of sulfides to sulfoxides or sulfones under visible-light irradiation

Abstract

A visible-light induced selective oxidation of sulfides to sulfoxides or sulfones was reported at ambient temperature in H2O under catalyst-free conditions, using oxygen as a green oxidant. The surfactants play a key role in this oxidation, and sulfoxides or sulfones were obtained in high yields, respectively, promoted by different surfactants.
