Abstract
This review presents a comprehensive overview of the synthesis of cyclopropanes using enantioselective Michael Initiated Ring Closure (MIRC) reactions. Cyclopropane-containing compounds possess unique structural and chemical properties that render them valuable in various fields, such as medicine, agrochemistry, and materials science. The MIRC approach has emerged as a versatile and efficient method for generating cyclopropane rings with excellent enantioselectivity. The review details fundamental concepts, reaction mechanisms, and synthetic strategies employed in MIRC reactions. A short introduction is provided to highlight the use of chiral substrates and nucleophiles to synthesize enantioenriched cyclopropanes.
