Concurrent production of diesel valeric biofuel and a fuel additive in a one-pot process over SiO2–Al2O3-supported catalysts: influence of the Si/Al ratio

Abstract

The co-production of pentyl valerate biofuel and the diesel additive di-n-pentyl ether from γ-valerolactone, pentanol and H2 in a one-pot process is reported for the first time, in spite of the opposite acidic requirements for the catalyst, analyzing the influence of the Si/Al ratio of the SiO2–Al2O3 support on the promotion of these acid-catalyzed reactions.
