Microwave absorbing properties of polypyrrole-based 2D nanocomposites

Abstract

The growing prevalence of electromagnetic wave pollution, driven by advancements in electronic communication technologies, has heightened the need for efficient electromagnetic wave-absorbing materials. Among these, polypyrrole (PPy) emerges as a highly advantageous conductive polymer due to its superior electrical conductivity, ease of synthesis, corrosion resistance, low density, and robust chemical stability. A range of PPy-based 2D nanocomposites have demonstrated outstanding electromagnetic wave absorption capabilities, particularly as conductive loss materials. This review presents a comprehensive analysis of the considerable potential of PPy-based 2D nanocomposites in electromagnetic wave absorption, highlighting their exceptional properties. Recent advancements in this domain are thoroughly reviewed, underscoring the promising performance of these nanocomposites. Additionally, this review provides critical perspectives on future developments aimed at enhancing PPy and its 2D nanocomposites as viable solutions for microwave absorption applications. The advancement of electronic communication technology has resulted in an increased demand for electromagnetic wave-absorbing materials. Polypyrrole (PPy) stands out as a highly favorable conductive polymer due to its remarkable conductivity, straightforward synthesis, resistance to corrosion, lightweight nature, and enduring chemical stability. Various PPy-based 2D nanocomposites have exhibited exceptional electromagnetic absorbing properties, particularly as conductive loss-type materials. This review provides a detailed summary of the significant potential of PPy-based 2D nanocomposites for effective electromagnetic wave absorption, shedding light on their remarkable properties. Recent developments in this field are summarized in detail, emphasizing the promising performance of these nanocomposites. Furthermore, this review offers valuable insights into the future directions for advancing PPy and its 2D nanocomposites as effective solutions for microwave absorption.
