A novel co-substitution strategy for the design, growth, and optoelectronic performance optimization of Cs2ZrCl6:Ce,Li single crystals

Abstract

Zero-dimensional metal halide perovskites have been widely sought after due to their easy synthesis, tunable structure, and excellent optoelectronic properties. Among them, Cs2ZrCl6 is a lead-free vacancy-ordered perovskite which is environmentally friendly, with high stability and unique optical properties, and has attracted increasing interest in optoelectronic applications. So far, research on Cs2ZrCl6 has focused on its photoluminescence and scintillation properties, with few reports on its optoelectronic properties. In this study, we used the Bridgman method to grow pure, randomly doped, and unit co-substituted Cs2ZrCl6 bulk single crystals, and characterized their optical and optoelectronic properties. The results indicate that an effective dual-ion unit co-substitution strategy makes the Cs2ZrCl6 single crystal an environmentally friendly new material with potential practical applications in the field of solar-blind ultraviolet optoelectronics and X-ray detection.
