Robert Emmet Mulvey is Professor and Head of Inorganic Chemistry at the University of Strathclyde. Both of his degrees (BSc in 1981 and PhD in 1984; advisor Ron Snaith) were obtained at the University of Strathclyde. He has spent his entire career at Strathclyde except for two years as a postdoctoral research assistant (advisor Ken Wade) at the University of Durham. He has published over 235 papers. Awarded the RSC Meldola Medal and Prize (1988), the RSC Main Group Chemistry Award (2001), and a Royal Society Leverhulme Trust Senior Research Fellowship (2004), he is currently the holder of a Royal Society Wolfson Research Merit Award (2009–2014). He was elected to the Fellowship of the Royal Society of Chemistry in 2001 and to the Fellowship of the Royal Society of Edinburgh, Scotland's National Academy of Science and Letters in 2002. His research interests include synergic bimetallic chemistry, main group chemistry, metallocyclic chemistry, organolithium chemistry and supramolecular chemistry.
