Correction for ‘Photoinduced electron transfer across an organic molecular wall: octa acid encapsulated ESIPT dyes as electron donors’ by Fabiano S. Santos et al., Photochem. Photobiol. Sci., 2017, 16, 840–844.
4,4′-Dimethylviologen dichloride was found to be the best acceptor compared to N-methylpyridinium iodide, most likely due to its better binding with the exterior of the host octa acid walls.
References 15–20 are incorrectly cited in the third paragraph of the Introduction. These references should be cited in the third sentence of the second paragraph of the Introduction instead. The sentence concerned should read:
The excited state process consisting of dual fluorescence5,6 with a large Stokes’ shift (ca. 10000 cm−1)3 is strongly solvent and pH dependent.15–20
