Abstract

Expression of concern for ‘A cascade process for directly converting nitriles (RCN) to cyanamides (RNHCN) via SO2F2-activated Tiemann rearrangement’ by Guofu Zhang et al., Org. Biomol. Chem., 2019, 17, 7684–7688, https://doi.org/10.1039/C9OB01547G.


Organic & Biomolecular Chemistry is publishing this expression of concern in order to alert our readers to the fact that we are presently unable to confirm the accuracy of the information published in this article related to compound 3ag. A reader has claimed that they were unable to reproduce the synthesis of compound 3ag, and that the 13C NMR spectrum provided for compound 3ag does not fit the reported structure. The authors disagree with the reader's claims and state that they have repeated the synthesis of compound 3ag and obtained the same results.

An independent expert has reviewed the matter and has recommended that the authors must provide further evidence, from X-ray or other confirmatory tool, in order to prove the proposed structure of compound 3ag.

An expression of concern will continue to be associated with this article until a conclusive outcome is reached.
