A σ,π-type monocarborane copper acetylide for regioselective 1,4-disubstituted 1,2,3-triazoles

Abstract

A σ,π-bis(copper) acetylide complex, (CB11H11-12-C[triple bond, length as m-dash]C)Cu2(PiPr3)3 (2), enables the formation of regioselective 1,4-disubstituted 1,2,3-triazoles containing monocarborane anion [CB11H12] via CuAAC with organic azides under mild conditions. This method achieves 1,2,3-triazolylated monocarboranes (3) in up to 97% yield, including a luminescent compound with optoelectronic potential.
