Unlocking enhanced hydrogen evolution with a bimetal–organic framework: a synergistic approach†
Abstract
A Ni(II)-based 3D metal–organic framework (MOF), Ni-MOF, and its bimetallic derivative, NiCo-MOF, synthesized hydrothermally, showed superior hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) electrocatalysis. NiCo-MOF demonstrates a 120 mV overpotential, 39 mV dec−1 Tafel slope, and stable structure after 20 h at −0.12 V vs. RHE, while Ni-MOF shows a 150 mV overpotential, 52 mV dec−1 Tafel slope, and degradation, highlighting the synergistic benefits of bimetallic systems in electrocatalysis.
