Construction of functionalized catalysts for efficient urea-assisted hydrogen evolution reaction in alkaline media via a partial sulfidation strategy on a nickel–iron spinel compound†
Abstract
The replacement of the anodic OER for water splitting with the UOR is a promising pathway for energy-efficient hydrogen production and treatment of urea-containing wastewater. In this work, we report a new partially sulfurized nickel–iron oxide catalyst (S-NiFeOV/NF) containing oxygen vacancies on nickel foam by constructing M–S bonds with spinel compounds as substrates. S-NiFeOV/NF demonstrated very favourable UOR and HER activities as well as stability.
