The preparation of some new complexes of the type trans-[IrX(CO)L2](X = Cl or Br; L = PMe3, PEt3,PMe2Ph, or AsMe2Ph) by dehydrohalogenation of complexes of the type [IrHX2(CO)L2], configuration (I), with a base such as sodium methoxide is described. trans-[Irl(CO)(PMe2Ph)2] was prepared by metathesis. Infrared and n.m.r. data are given and discussed.
